How our symptom checker works
You have many options for care at Baylor Scott & White, ranging from office visits with physicians to virtual care and more. However, which service to use is not always obvious. With our symptom checker, you’ll answer a few multiple-choice questions about your symptoms. Then, you’ll receive a recommendation about the option best suited to your needs:
- Video Visits with a Baylor Scott & White provider, available 24/7
- 24/7 eVisits, where you answer a few questions to get a treatment plan within one hour — no appointment needed.
- Our convenient urgent care clinics, which offer comprehensive, in-person treatment for a variety of minor illnesses and injuries
- Your primary care physician, who knows your health best and can make recommendations based on your current and past health status
- Emergency care
- Self care at home
Is your symptom checker accurate?
No online tool can take the place of a conversation with your doctor. This symptom checker isn’t meant to diagnose a medical condition, but it can point you to the most appropriate place to receive care so you can start feeling better as quickly as possible.
Should I visit the ER?
Some symptoms are serious enough that you should go straight to the ER or call 911 to get help immediately. While many symptoms can indicate a medical emergency, some of the more serious symptoms include:
symptoms
- Breathing difficulties
- Chest pain or pressure
- Facial drooping, weakness on one or both sides of the body, and slurred speech (symptoms of a stroke)
- Severe allergic reactions that lead to facial swelling, fainting and breathing difficulties
- Severe burns or bleeding
- Severe vomiting or diarrhea
Always visit the ER if you feel you need immediate medical attention.
