The Baylor College of Medicine - Baylor Scott & White Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship is a two-year program fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We will accept 1 PHM Fellow per Academic Year.
Our program mission is to advance the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine by nurturing the next generation of Pediatric Hospitalists through exemplary education and compassionate, high-quality, family centered care. We will ensure that patient safety, advocacy and value-based care remain critical aspects of our program through modeling, research initiatives and educational opportunities. We will be committed to both the professional and personal advancement of our fellows through mentorship, wellness, open communication, and individualized learning experiences.

Curriculum
Overview
Rotations will be structured into a 13-block schedule comprised of 4-week blocks to be aligned with the pediatric residents’ modified X+Y schedule. Medical-surgical unit/inpatient service will rotate between weeks with the resident teaching service, APP staffed service, and hospitalist only service.
Each block will allow for enough time to establish a meaningful experience through following a panel of patients contiguously (as appropriate per rotation), having consistent supervision for service weeks to allow for well-informed feedback, allow for contiguous teaching on the resident/teaching service, and ensuring the staff physician can directly observe progress for assessment. Like the modified X+Y model, initiation of scholarship “Y” weeks would allow for fatigue prevention and longitudinal commitment to maintaining and completing scholarship pursuits.
The PHM Fellowship curriculum is designed to meet each fellow's learning needs while adhering to all ACGME standards. Fellows will acquire clinical experience, medical education experience, sufficient opportunity to pursue scholarly activity and ample procedural sedation exposure.
The primary training site will be Baylor Scott and White - McLane Children’s Medical Center while the primary community site will be Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Hillcrest.

How to apply
Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to electronically accept fellowship applications, letters of recommendations, dean’s letters, transcripts and other credentials directly from the applicant's medical school.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all application materials are completed and properly submitted through ERAS. The Fellowship Selection Committee will review all completed applications and select candidates for interviews. Interviews will be arranged by invitation only.

- Successful completion of USMLE I, II, and III or COMLEX I, II and III.
- Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency
- American Board of Pediatrics eligibility or certification
- Submission of standardized PHM application
