Biography
Dr. Chiles completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas and did his medical school and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He graduated from medical school with high honors and was awarded the Gold Headed Cane Award by his classmates as the senior most exemplifying the characteristics of “humanity, humility and fidelity”. Upon completion of his year as chief resident at UTMB, he completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of North Carolina, where he also served as the Chief Fellow. Dr. Chiles then joined the faculty at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. He has served as the Associate Program Director and Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship along with several other roles in graduate medical education including Ombudsman for the GME programs. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles. He currently serves as Chief of Cardiology for the Central Texas Region. He has an active clinical practice in ICU care, clinic, echo and the cath lab. He has areas of interest in critical care, cardiogenic shock, chronic coronary syndromes and stress-induced cardiomyopathy. Dr. Chiles' areas of expertise include the treatment of high cholesterol, heart attacks, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms and high blood pressure.
