Richard C. Beckendorf, MD

Dr. Beckendorf has a background in research in the basic sciences and earned a Master's in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, prior to attending medical school. Upon completing medical training in 2002, he enjoyed working in pulmonary and critical care private practice for 3 years. In 2005, he began his employment at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, TX, which he considers the best decision of his professional career. He serves as the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. He is involved in the education of pulmonary and critical care fellows, internal medicine residents and anesthesiology interns as well as medical students.


Dr. Beckendorf's areas of expertise include asthma and COPD, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis, pleural disease and effusions, pulmonary nodules and thoracic lymphadenopathy, chronic cough, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis and Alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, sarcoidosis and autoimmune conditions of the lung, viral, bacterial and fungal pneumonia, occupation-related lung diseases including asbestosis, and lung cancer.
