What is vaginal cancer?

Vaginal cancer starts in the cells of the vagina. This cancer usually occurs in the lining of the vagina, called the epithelium. When these cells grow out of control, they can turn into vaginal squamous cell carcinoma. This type of cancer is rare and takes several years to develop.
